Stephen Lark

Stephen has asked me to post the following comment on his behalf:

"Could Trish Wilson - if there is such a person - stop misquoting me, please? After all, I have investigated the Pole-Hastings marriages (during the Reformation hence no dispensation), the Lumley-Conyers dispensation of 1489 and the Mure-Stewart dispensation of 1347."

If this is the usual RG 'Attack is the best form of defence' forget it.

And if Stephen Lark has a problem he can contact me any time via ''

Indeed Brian why am I beginning to think that perhaps the 'White Boar Society' should rename itself 'The White Feather' Society?

And why have I renamed Sir George Buck 'Sir Goebbels Buck'? Indeed why should I feel the logical necessity to compare his book wih 'Mein Kampf'?

Trish I will leave you and Stephen to sort yourselves out by direct e-mails if you both so wish.

As to Buck, you are aware, aren't you, that his original work was badly mangled by subsequent editing? (In fact I'm not sure the original text is extant.) No source is 100% reliable, and when it comes to Richard III my own view is that we shall never have 100% objective truth as all the sources are inadequate and/or biased, one way or the other.

Would you and Stephen Lark stop treating me like a complete ignoramus?

Indeed it might come as a quite shock to both of you and other historians what I discovered when I switched my attention to 17th century history starting with Buck.

As they say 'If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen' and I've yet to turn up the heat.

OK Trish - I've looked very carefully at what I said and I don't see how in any way it treats you as a
'complete ignoramus'. It merely offers you a straight piece of factual information. You could simply have said: 'Oh, yes, I know that!' (Assuming you do.)

Obviously you do not like this little 'pub' of which I am landlord. However, in my role as landlord, I am now barring you. So please don't waste time posting more comments as they won't be published. Byee! And have fun with your historical delving, wherever it may take you.
